Budoucí Japanese Aesthetics Workshop by Kinbaku LuXuria

Following the warm response to our online classes on Japanese aesthetics, we wanted to create something more immersive: a full hands-on workshop dedicated to exploring how these principles can truly live inside kinbaku.

Over three days, we will study some of the central concepts that shape Japanese aesthetics — balance, restraint, imperfection, tension, negative space, rhythm, presence — and examine how they influence not only the visual aspect of a tie, but also its emotional atmosphere and narrative. Rather than approaching aesthetics as decoration, we will work on understanding how meaning emerges through intention, detail, and relationship.

The workshop will combine theoretical analysis with practical creation. Following a format similar to our photographic workshop, each tying pair will be assigned a specific theme inspired by the concepts discussed during the classes. From there, every couple will develop their own interpretation through complete ties and scenes.

Wildties will personally guide each pair throughout the creative process, helping shape the structure, emotional tone, and visual coherence of the work while also documenting the sessions through photography. The photographs will later become part of a collective discussion and analysis, allowing participants to observe how aesthetic choices translate into images, movement, and atmosphere.

The workshop is designed to be collaborative and alive: even when not tying, participants will actively contribute to the evolution of each scene through observation, discussion, and shared reflection. The goal is not simply to “create beautiful ties,” but to deepen the ability to compose with intention and to recognize the subtle elements that give kinbaku its evocative power.

Each tying pair will create at least two complete sets during the three days, developing different themes and approaches throughout the workshop.

This workshop is intended for people who wish to move beyond technique alone and explore kinbaku as an artistic and expressive language shaped by aesthetic sensitivity, atmosphere, and human connection.
