This is not a traditional workshop, but an intensive coaching and study session designed specifically for advanced students who wish to deepen and refine their personal approach to kinbaku.
Rather than focusing on the transmission of techniques or fixed patterns, the purpose of this group coaching is to identify each participant’s individual bottlenecks, recurring limitations, and areas of uncertainty — both technical and artistic — and to work through them in a focused and meaningful way.
Throughout the sessions, Wildties will closely observe each student’s process, choices, habits, and decision-making, offering guidance, perspective, and critical feedback drawn from years of experience and research. The emphasis, however, is not on providing ready-made solutions or imposing a specific style. Instead, students will be encouraged to develop their own understanding, aesthetic sensitivity, and creative autonomy.
The coaching will unfold through a series of themed exercises and explorations touching on some of the central aspects of kinbaku: composition, emotional direction, tension, flow, intention, improvisation, aesthetics, scene construction, and the relationship between technical choices and expressive impact. Each theme will be introduced through discussion and demonstration, followed by individual exploration guided by direct feedback and collective reflection.
Particular attention will be given to the “why” behind choices rather than simply the “how.” Students will be invited to question their habits, examine their assumptions, and refine the way they perceive both rope and interaction. The group setting also creates a unique environment for exchange, allowing participants to observe different approaches, challenges, and interpretations while remaining focused on their own development.
This study group is intended for practitioners who already possess a solid technical foundation and who are looking for something beyond technique alone: a space for deeper inquiry, artistic growth, critical thinking, and the development of a more personal and conscious kinbaku practice.
