Budoucí The Other Side of Ropes

The Other Side of Ropes is an exchange and research event focused on being in ropes. Our aim is to explore ropes from the other side. How can we approach it. How to improve our skills and deepen the experience of tying together.

Rope-bottoming development is a lot about sharing. However, we believe it cannot be separated from the ones who tie. Learning and growing together is important. Therefore riggers are not only welcome, but strongly encouraged to take part and contribute.

There is going to be a lot of exchange in form of discussions, but also a lot of hands-on workshops, study and research groups on bottoming styles, body awareness, communication skills, exploring different mindsets and emotions, staying safe, healthy and of course tying.

This event will be partially in an un-conference style. Official presenters will offer their knowledge in pre-scheduled workshops. At the same time participants will also have an opportunity to bring their own topics either by requesting or opening them for research together with others or presenting them themselves.

Presenters

Official presenters will be:

Asimira & MieNeko

When Asimira encountered rope bondage through her art school graduation project in 2015 she fell head over heels in love and dove headfirst into the international rope scene. Ropes provided a space for her to incorporate corporeality in a playful way. Her fascination for ropes and what they can do to her own body and the bodies of others in her hands led her to start a new
education in physiotherapy. As a teacher her focus is on anatomy, and on ways to be playful and intimate as soon and as often as possible when tying.

Beginning as a model, MieNeko transitioned to rigging to share the profound experiences Shibari offers. Their versatile style avoids the limits of a single school, instead adapting to each partner to let every session find its own unique path.

For MieNeko, rope is home—a space for deep self-exploration and emotional expression. They believe the model holds equal influence in the session, viewing the practice as a constant, intense exchange of „inner storms“ and mutual communication that transcends the world around them.

Pen(UK) & Nikoleta

Pen (he/him) is a bottom-leaning rope switch from the UK who loves exploring the emotions and vulnerability of shibari.

Initially, he approached Shibari as ‘just another form of bondage’, but soon realised it is something much more profound than this. Pen ties with many people with different styles, but he always falls back towards his love for power exchange and surrender. – “The worst way to torture Pen is to tie him in a way that is easy to escape..”

He has taught and performed at events across the UK, Europe, the US, and Southeast Asia. Passionate about rope bottoming education and safety, he uses his extensive training in human anatomy and physiology to empower both bottoms and riggers to explore rope play more safely and freely.

Active in rope bondage since 2018, Nikoleta brings expertise from both sides of the rope. Influenced by Soptík, Honza Dark, and international mentors, she is a rigger defined by her „mind-reading“ intuition and professional improvisation. Her style shifts between cruelty and calm, always prioritizing high safety standards and her model’s well-being.

As an instructor, she offers firm yet patient guidance for both riggers and models. Her teaching combines technical precision with a relaxed, humorous atmosphere, ensuring students avoid mistakes while receiving her best.

Sansei

Sansei has been doing ropes since 2017. Her approach to tying is specific with a deep surrender to her rigger, an almost altered state of being while tying, exploring the often dark emotions that ropes can bring and the beauty of them. Of particular importance to her is the naturalness of the experience and the effect of the rope on the human soul and body. She is not only a model, but also a rigger. She has been studying with Peter Soptik since 2019 and the Kinbaku LuXuria style with Riccardo Wildties and Red Sabbath since 2022. The experience of both roles allows her to better understand and pass on deeper insight. She is passionate about Japanese aesthetics and philosophy, which is a great inspiration in her tying.
